World of Warcraft Item Upgrades
The upgrade feature for items lets players upgrade their existing equipment. This can be done at any item upgrader NPC.
Generally, upgrades increase an item's main stat and can give it extra benefits, based on the item type. Examples include Whistan's shield for FB sorcs, or Goldwrap for build casters.
Armour
Armour is one of the key things that keeps Link protected from damage in all situations. Although it isn't able to be upgraded like weapons, it is able to be improved in different ways to enhance its defense capabilities.
Armour is designed to shield people or animals from harm or injury from direct physical attack or a variety of environmental or activity hazards. Historically, armour was mostly made of leather or fabric but later, protections made of metal were also utilized for military purposes, particularly like heavy cavalry or combat drones.
There are many ways to upgrade armour, however, the majority require you to visit one of four Great Fairy Fountains scattered throughout Hyrule. Each fountain provides a different degree of improvement and more protection levels requiring more rupees and materials.
First, Armor Upgrades are permanent upgrades. Once they've been applied they aren't able to be removed unless you own another piece of equipment that has the same upgrade. You should only apply the highest-level upgrades to your equipment, and ensure that you have the materials needed to complete them.
You can find the upgrades you require in a variety locations throughout Hyrule. These include shrines, merchants and even enemies. They are usually marked with a gold circle or a blue triangle, and are available in large quantities as you move through the game. While they might appear randomly, there is the possibility that obtaining certain upgrade components will lead to quests that reward you with more.
It's also worth noting that even though the amount of protection offered by each upgrade varies, it is the same for all upgrades and will always be superior to nothing. This is because a full set of upgraded armor will provide you with a substantial defense boost that protects you from all types of attacks, except magic which makes it a very effective weapon for any class.
Weapons
You can upgrade your guns by using special upgrades to make them unique. They can boost damage, alter the weapon's stats in order to adapt to your specific build, and even unlock new attachments like unique enchantments, ammo types and more aesthetic options.
To upgrade a weapon you'll need to have an upgrade component in place as well as the item itself. The weapon must also be above a certain level for the upgrade to be effective and the majority of weapons can only accept one upgrade at a time.
Weapon upgrade components are available all over the world from a variety of sources, including merchants or enemies. The upgrade components themselves are made up of ingredients that can be put into weapons, armor, trinkets, and gathering tools to grant an attribute bonus or additional effect when they are in use. They require equipment to be of a certain level to accept the upgrade and can be upgraded in the same way as other items.
Upgrades are a mix of Smithing Stones (a type of stone) and Runes. They can be used to boost the stats of weapons and enhance their ability to scale with other stats. These upgrades can be purchased from enemies in the open world, or from merchants. They are also dropped through combat.
Two NPCs can upgrade your weapon: Blacksmith Hewg, in the Roundtable Hold hub zone and the Smithing Master Iji, in the Road to Manor hub zone. Both of these NPCs will take your Smithing Stones and Runes in exchange for a higher-level version of the weapon and an upgrade.
It's crucial to prioritize upgrading your most-used items first, and then items that you won't need to replace in the near future. If you're planning on playing a melee build, for example upgrade your weapon first, then your shoulders and chest followed by your feet and hands. The same principle applies to Magic and Utility Items. However, depending on the style you play, certain specific items are more beneficial than others. Armour is the same, with certain reforges better than others.
Magic Items
A character is able to upgrade only one item of magic at a time. If an upgrade project has been cancelled, no more upgrades will be offered for the item. Upgraded magic items cost twice as much gold to create or purchase, however they may have additional benefits.
A magical item is any item that has special properties or effects. Most of these items are weapons, however some include armor, shields as well as cloaks, potions scrolls, rings, and other items. Some of these items may be made to speak.
The majority of magic items can be upgraded so that they are enhanced with new abilities. This makes them more useful to a player or help them to overcome a difficult situation. Infused weapons can offer an additional amount of damage to a specific type of enemy, for instance. This is especially beneficial for characters who have reached the point where they are likely to face a single type of monster repeatedly in dungeons.
A ring that is infused with magic may give immunity to non-magical attacks that bludgeon or pierce or cut (excluding attacks that are silvered) until the character takes another long rest. This can be particularly helpful for combatants who are melee or any other character who would like to save the cost and hassle of purchasing a shield.
Certain items with enchanted properties have special abilities which allow the character to cast spells in addition to those listed on their class's list of spells. This is useful for characters that have difficulty keeping their spell slots full because of multiclassing. These enchanted items typically require an Intelligence (Arcana) check prior to use them, and the spell is determined by rolling on an index based on the number of Intelligence points expended.
Other items that are enchanted can allow the player to change their appearance, or even create a new appearance. These items are particularly beneficial for characters who were forced to leave their home, or are in a location where they may not be welcome. An item that is magical can provide them with an invisibility effect, or even make them invisible to everyone but a select few.
Utility Items
Utility items are equipment that do not fall under the categories of Armor, Clothing or Weapons and offer various capabilities. In contrast to weapons and armor and Clothing, no utility item can conflict with another. Most utility items provide a passive effect that the player can activate by using them, but some also have additional capabilities that activate when the user presses a button or activates a skill.
The Flashlight is the most popular accessory. It is used to illuminate the surrounding area. Other useful items include the Helicopter Cap and Rocket Boots which allow the player float in mid-air while moving, and the Jetpack which allows the player to accelerate in any directions while on the ground. In the Engineering section you can quickly create a variety of useful items, while others are only available through Research projects or Experimental projects on the Proving Ground.
Players can unlock more powerful utility items in addition to the ones that are available in their normal inventory by purchasing them at the Atomic Shop or from seasonal Scoreboard rewards. Some of these items can be upgraded to allow more efficient use.
Most utility items enhance the combat ability of a particular character or give the player a kind of advantage when it comes to navigation. Sharpening stones, created by the Weaponsmith will increase power and Ferocity while Maintenance Oils, made by an Huntsman can increase concentration and healing power. Other items that are useful can be utilized by players to increase Damage or Condition Damage.
All XCOM soldiers are capable of equipping one utilitarian item at the start of the campaign, and an additional slot becomes available by equipping certain types of armor or completing engineering research or experiments in the Proving Ground. In the Alien Hunters DLC, additional slots are added by equipping the Grenade Launcher which lets the player equip a Smoke Grenade or Bomb in another grenade slot. an offensive grenade is equipped in the main grenade slot.
