World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading

Upgrades can boost the value of weapons, armors and rings. Upgrades can also boost bonuses like Crit chance and damage from PvE.

For example, a weapon with the upgrade template ending in % will gain an attack damage of 3% each time it upgrades (relative to its previous value).

The cost of upgrading an item is determined by the item's level. The cost increases with item's level.

Components

Upgrade components are items that can be put into weapons, armor, and trinkets in order to provide an additional stat boost or effect when they're used. These can be obtained through crafting, buying from vendors trading, or looting. Some upgrades also have specific cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can only be applied to equipment that has a slot. The item must be at least upgraded to a blue level before the component can be applied. Upgrade components, unlike other mods can only be applied only once. They cannot be replaced or applied several times. Infusions and enrichments are a specific kind of upgrade component that is used for non-amulet ascended and legendary equipment and some of the items that are not ascending back. Infusions and enrichments can be retrieved by salvaging ascended gear or completing an elite mission in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.

A prefix or suffix may be added to an upgrade, changing the name of the item it's used on (for instance, 'Canthan Armor Insignia,' is changed to Canthan Armor Minor Vigor). Some upgrades increase the Mark Rarity or Level of an item, allowing players to create stronger versions of the item using fewer Upgrade crystals than they require to reach the same level using standard methods.

A 'boost' upgrade can alter the attack or defence attributes of the weapon or armor. After the player has completed the cutscene and defeated the Crazed Mechanist the upgrades can be created at the Portative Forging Station. They can also be dropped by enemies while upgrading other gear, or by purchasing them in the cash shop for 500 upgrade crystals each.

Each upgrade increases the probability that a higher tier version of an item will be available during the next reset. This gives players the opportunity to upgrade their gear even in the event that they don't know what can be improved upon an update.

The process of upgrading an item could be costly and it is likely that the item will be obsolete, or even break, if the upgrade fails. Upgrade Crystals and assist powder are also destroyed when the upgrade fails. This is mitigated by the availability of cash shop items that can increase or even eliminate the chance of failure, as well as some upgrades that provide a bonus when reinserted into an item.

Glyphs

Glyphs can be used to improve the Paragon Board by placing them in special sockets. Glyphs buff the power of all nodes in their radius, including pre-existing affixes on equipment. Glyphs can be upgraded in numerous ways. We recommend upgrading them as fast as you can to level 15.

You will often find in the endgame that putting Glyphs is the most effective method to upgrade your equipment. These are the only upgrade components that can be upgraded to level 15 and provide significant boosts to your power on the Paragon Board.

Most of the upgrades in the game can be replaced, however Glyphs are the one upgrade component that can be removed and re-placed without restriction. Only legendary equipment can be salvaged and replaced using a Black Lion Salvage Kit.

Each Glyph has a specific range of values it can improve a stat by. The value is shown when you select the Glyph in your inventory. You can decide to replace it with a Glyph with the same rank, or a higher rank, which will boost the overall value of the glyph.

There are Glyphs in the Black Lion Trading Post, as part of the Gem Store purchase or bundle with certain unlimited-use gathering tools, and through Faction Crypt raids. Every Faction Crypt has the possibility of dropping one of the numerous Glyphs, and there are also a few rare Glyphs that can be obtained as drops from any of the four Faction Crypts.

Once you have obtained the desired Glyphs you will need them to be placed on your equipment. Each Glyph will unlock a unique bonus that can boost the stats of a specific set of nodes in the vicinity of the Glyph. This will either be +40 for one of your primary stats or +25 for two of your secondary stats, based on the Glyph.

Glyphs boost all nodes connected to them, therefore it is best to put Glyphs in strategic spots on the Graph. This will increase the impact. For instance an Druid should aim to place their Glyphs close to their primary damage points, but also consider placing them near critical damage nodes, too.

Leveling

The  item upgrading  system allows players to increase the stats of certain items by placing upgraded components inside them. This is commonly known as "upping". Each upgradeable item has a level that determines its final upgraded stats. Upgraded items are able to be leveled until they reach a maximum level of 385 ilvl. Each level of an item requires different components, and upgrade costs increase with each level.

Certain upgrades require an ingredient to be activated. This ingredient is obtained from finishing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes are available in the upgrade tab of a crafting table, or purchased from some NPCs. Each completed Upgrade Recipe earns several Technology Points. These points can be used for leveling up an item. Once enough points are earned you'll be eligible to claim the upgrade and get its extra bonuses.

When the player improves a piece of equipment, the base item will be replaced by the new item. The same armor will receive a weapon or a shield when upgraded. The new item will have a unique bonus. This can be a disadvantage, as it can make the item more expensive, even if you don't need it.

If the player has enough tokens they can roll the upgrade of their item. The item will be replaced with the same item, but it is based on a level 1 base and completely different bonuses. This is a good option for certain items, but it shouldn't be performed frequently, since it can use up many resources.

Certain upgrades can be rerolled multiple times to increase their value, giving players the ability to alter their equipment. Dolphin's Gift is a good example, since it grants a buff if the player repeatedly enters or leaves the water. It can be upgraded multiple times, each time raising the maximum roll by 10 points. This item can be extremely valuable in PvP, as the best version of it could be worth between 20 and 50 times its value if it is not upgraded.

Requirements

The item upgrader lets players increase the level of their equipment (armor weapons, weapons trinkets, and weapons) above ilvl385 by presenting the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades to armor set pieces improve the strength of their base defense, while upgrades to weapon items increase their base damage as well as their strength and dexterity.

All items can be upgraded up to five times, except for hero equipment, which is able to be upgraded eight times. Every time you upgrade an item it is given a chance to fail--the rate of failure increases as you exceed the maximum number of upgrades. Failures can result in the item returning to its initial state which means that the player has to purchase more resources than if they had stopped upgrading after the maximum number.

If an item fails to upgrade, the amount of accumulated experience in its growth bar is reset to zero. In addition, the item will lose any bonus it earned, including crit chance and attack damage, as well as any additional effects associated with the effect (for instance, an increase in heal over time or speed of reload). However, the player may continue to use the weapon or armor after the failure.

Whenever an item is upgraded the upgrades are applied from lowest to highest. This means that, should a weapon gain an increase in the chance of crit the increase is applied prior to any increase in attack damage. A new attribute known as Slots has been added to the definition of the item and the value is computed every time an upgrade is applied.

The amount of resources needed to upgrade an item is based on its rarity rating and upgrade slot count. The cost of upgrading non-premium equipment is equal to its value. For example an item of common use could have five upgrades for a price of. 25600 Technology Points 4x Quality Improvement Chance. Hero quality items have lower costs per upgrade.

Premium items could have different upgrade requirements than regular gear. For example they might require fewer sowels, but more minerals and orons. Regardless, the player must visit the NPC [Armor] Boboko in Central Flarine with each piece of equipment they want to upgrade. Each upgrade to equipment requires different amounts of ingredients for upgrading, in addition to the expenses listed above.
